The ARTicipate Endowment Fund provides annual grants to Ottawa region artists and arts organizations to create and showcase quality work at the beautiful Shenkman Arts Centre in Ottawa’s east end. The Fund also supports programming by the Centre’s Resident Arts Partners: AOE Arts Council, Gloucester Pottery School, MIFO, Ottawa School of Art and Ottawa School of Theatre.
Each season, Ottawa residents can experience a variety of artistic performances and exhibits thanks to this Fund. ARTicipate Grant projects offer spectators dance, music, theatre, visual and media arts.
The ARTicipate Endowment Fund was created in 2007 by AOE Arts Council with the generous support of donors and the Province of Ontario. Since inception, $500,000 in interest revenue has been disbursed through 130 grants to local artists and arts organizations.
The ARTicipate Endowment Fund is stewarded by AOE Arts Council, a registered charity, and the funds are securely invested jointly with the City of Ottawa Treasury.
Recipients can use this funding toward their rehearsal and production costs, to enhance their creative team, to create original work or to support promotional efforts.

“With an ARTicipate grant, I had my very first solo exhibition – a milestone that has been decades in the making. I used the funds to prepare and frame paintings and photographs for formal exhibition, and print special postcards to advertise the show,” says Chinh Nguyen, visual and media arts artist and 2016-17 ARTicipate Grant recipient.
